They get married and have twin daughters, Hallie and Annie. Unfortunately, their marriage ends shortly after the twins are born. As a result, Nick raises Hallie on his vineyard in Napa, California while Elizabeth resides in London, where she works as a wedding gown designer and raises Annie. Eleven years later, the twins end up at the same summer camp where they develop a strong rivalry. After pulling a dangerous prank with her friends on Annie’s cabin, Hallie is sent to isolation and unexpectedly bonds with her sister over their shared traits.
Upon discovering the uncanny similarities in their family backgrounds, the girls exchange a photograph of their parents and realize they are actually long-lost twins. They come up with a plan to switch places and use their respective knowledge to help convince their parents to reconcile. This entails each girl coaching the other on how to act like her. As Hallie embraces her new life in London, she meets her grandfather Charles, butler Martin, and Elizabeth. Meanwhile, Annie adjusts to living in California with Nick and their nanny Chessy by her side. However, Annie’s excitement is short-lived as she discovers that Nick is engaged to 26-year-old Meredith Blake – a gold digger publicist from San Francisco who has ulterior motives for marrying him.
