The Smurfs 2 (2013)

The American fantasy comedy film, The Smurfs 2 (2013), is based on the beloved comic book series created by Belgian artist Peyo. It takes place two years after the first film and centers around Smurfette’s birthday. The Smurfs share the story of how she was originally created by their enemy, Gargamel, but was rescued by Papa Smurf and transformed into a true blue Smurf. However, Smurfette begins to question her identity and has nightmares about her origins. As her birthday approaches, the other Smurfs plan a surprise party for her but try to keep it a secret, causing Smurfette to think they have forgotten about her. Meanwhile, in Paris, Gargamel and his cat Azrael have become famous for their magic powers, although they are beginning to run low on the essential ingredient – Smurf essence.

After Blue’s fourth birthday celebration, The Smurfs join Patrick and Grace at their apartment where they also meet Victor Doyle, Patrick’s stepfather. They find out that Gargamel is in Paris and decide to team up with the Winslows and Victor to track him down. Once they arrive in Paris, Patrick and Victor distract Gargamel during one of his Palais Garnier performances while the Smurfs sneak backstage into his dressing room to search for Smurfette. However, they soon realize Gargamel’s evil plan. Meanwhile, Smurfette manages to escape her prison and is pursued by the Naughties. Vexy convinces Smurfette to embrace her naughty side for fun, which ultimately strengthens their bond as friends.
