The Terminator (1984)

Directed by James Cameron, The Terminator (1984) is an American science fiction action film. It features Arnold Schwarzenegger as the titular character, a cybernetic assassin sent back in time from 2029 to kill Sarah Connor. A cyborg disguised as a human male, this Terminator was programmed to carry out its mission of hunting and eliminating a woman named Sarah Connor in Los Angeles. Alongside the Terminator’s arrival, a human soldier known as Kyle Reese also appears with the intention of stopping it. In their pursuit, they both acquire ammunition and clothing before the Terminator begins systematically targeting women with the same name as Sarah. Eventually, the real Sarah is tracked down at a nightclub but is rescued by Reese. Together, they make their escape in a stolen car while being pursued by the Terminator in a stolen police vehicle.

While hiding in a parking lot, Reese fills Sarah in on the imminent rise of Skynet, a powerful artificial intelligence created by Cyberdyne Systems. This self-aware network will soon launch a global nuclear war, leading to the downfall of humanity. Fortunately, Sarah’s future son John will unite survivors and defeat Skynet and its mechanical army. However, as they are on the brink of victory, Skynet sends back the Terminator to eliminate Sarah and prevent John’s birth. The Terminator is a formidable assassin with exceptional voice-mimicking skills and a strong metal endoskeleton disguised by human tissue. After another encounter with the relentless killer, Reese and Sarah are then taken into custody by the police.
