The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair (2018)
The American mystery drama television miniseries, The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair (2018), is based on the same-named 2014 novel by Joël Dicker. It made its debut on Epix, directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud and starring Patrick Dempsey, Kristine Froseth, Ben Schnetzer, Damon Wayans Jr., and Virginia Madsen. Prior to its release in the United States, the series was sold and premiered in various international markets. The story follows a young writer who seeks inspiration at Harry Quebert’s home but instead discovers that Harry has been accused of murdering Nola Kellergan, a 15-year-old girl who went missing years ago.
The plot follows a student who reaches out to his ex-tutor, a writer/professor, for assistance with his writing block. However, things take a dark turn when a grave is uncovered in the professor’s backyard, leading to his arrest as a suspect in the disappearance of a young girl many years ago. The former student takes it upon himself to clear his mentor’s name and find evidence of his innocence, despite the complicating factor of the girl’s buried body being found on the professor’s property and their possible romantic involvement.
