The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011) is an American romantic fantasy film directed by Bill Condon from a screenplay by Melissa Rosenberg, based on the 2008 novel Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. After several months since the previous events, human Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen tie the knot. At their wedding reception, werewolf Jacob Black returns to town after receiving an invitation, much to Bella’s delight. They share a dance in the woods, where she mentions their plan to consummate their marriage while she is still human. Jacob becomes angry at the thought of her being harmed. After the wedding, Bella and Edward travel to a secluded island off the coast of Rio de Janeiro for their honeymoon and have sex for the first time. When she wakes up feeling sick two weeks later, she confides in Carlisle Cullen that she believes she may be pregnant.
Distraught, Edward is aware of the slim chances of a human surviving childbirth with a vampire’s baby. He advises Bella to seek an abortion from Carlisle, but she declines and instead convinces Rosalie, Edward’s sister, to act as her bodyguard. Upon returning home to Forks, Washington, Jacob hurries to the Cullens’ house only to find Bella looking pale, underweight, and visibly pregnant. He urgently urges her to end the pregnancy, but Bella stands firm in her decision to continue it. Disheartened, Jacob storms out and joins his fellow werewolves in the woods where their leader Sam suggests killing Bella as a precaution against potential harm from her half-vampire child. However, Jacob disagrees and separates from the pack along with a few others who share his stance.
