Antonio Flores, a modest valet who resides with his mother Cecilia, shares custody of his teenage son after separating from his wife Isabel. As their neighborhood faces the threat of gentrification plans, local bike shop owner Natalie fights against it. Meanwhile, wealthy married businessman Vincent Royce is having an affair with actress Olivia Allan. One fateful night, as Olivia gets into her Uber with Vincent by her side, Antonio accidentally crashes his bike into their car. A photograph taken of the trio sparks rumors of Olivia and Vincent’s affair, causing panic for Vincent who fears losing his company if his wife Kathryn divorces him. In a desperate attempt to save himself, he comes up with a scheme for Olivia and Antonio to pose as a couple.
Olivia wants to avoid negative attention before the premiere of her new film, Earhart, where she portrays Amelia Earhart. Antonio needs $12,850 to cover Isabel’s debts. They have lunch together with a swarm of photographers, and Olivia behaves coldly while Antonio feels out of place. Their plan fools everyone except Kathryn, who hires a private investigator to follow them. At the Earhart premiere, she questions Antonio about his job and he defends himself. As he departs, he realizes he has gained fame, particularly among the Latin American community. To protect Olivia from unflattering media photos, Antonio and his friends drive her home while she is intoxicated.
