The supernatural horror film, The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death (2014), was directed by Tom Harper. Set thirty years after the previous film, it follows Eve Parkins as she takes her schoolchildren and headmistress, Jean Hogg, to the isolated village of Crythin Gifford during the London Blitz. On their train journey, Eve meets Harry Burnstow, a dashing RAF pilot stationed nearby. Upon arriving in the seemingly deserted village, they encounter a raving madman named Jacob and quickly flee. Despite their disapproval of Eel Marsh House, an isolated manor on an island in the marshes where they are staying, there are no other options available. That night, Eve has a nightmare about being forced to give up her own baby when she was younger.
Upon waking, she hears the creak of a rocking chair from the cellar. There, a note chastises her for allowing her child to wander off and she catches sight of a figure clad in black. The following day, Edward, who has remained silent since losing his parents in the bombing, is teased by two other children and glimpses the Woman in Black in the nursery. Eve becomes concerned as Edward carries around a decaying doll constantly. That same night, one of the boys who tormented him is lured out of the house by the Woman in Black. The next morning, Eve discovers his lifeless body on the shore, entangled in sharp wire. Later on, Eve spots the Woman in Black in the graveyard near their home and uncovers Nathaniel Drablow’s grave there.
