Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)
Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021), an American action thriller directed by Taylor Sheridan, follows the story of Hannah Faber, a smokejumper who is struggling after being unable to prevent the deaths of three campers and a fellow smokejumper in a forest fire. She now finds herself stationed at a lookout tower in Park County, Montana. Meanwhile, Owen Casserly, a forensic accountant, discovers that his boss and family were actually murdered by assassins Jack and Patrick disguised as a gas explosion. Fearing for his own safety, Owen takes his son Connor and goes on the run to seek refuge with his brother-in-law and Deputy Sheriff Ethan Sawyer. The assassins ambush them on the road, forcing them off a cliff. In an attempt to protect his son, Owen gives Connor evidence against their employer before he is killed by the assassins.
As Ethan stumbles upon Owen’s car wreck, Hannah also coincidentally finds Connor during her patrol. She brings him back to the tower for help, and they come up with a plan to distract the police by starting a forest fire using flares. They then head to Ethan’s house in search of Connor and question his pregnant wife, Allison. In a tense situation, she is able to signal Ethan with a duress code before fighting off the assailants and escaping. However, Hannah discovers that their radio is out of commission due to a lightning strike at the lookout tower. They attempt to make their way into town on foot with Connor, but are forced to turn back when they encounter the raging fire. Meanwhile, Ethan responds to Allison’s call for backup and arrives home with the Sheriff in an effort to protect his family. Unfortunately, they fall into an ambush set by the assassins who kill the Sheriff and force Ethan to lead them through the woods.
