Ticket to Paradise (2022)
Starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts, Ticket to Paradise (2022) is a romantic comedy directed by Ol Parker and written by Parker and Daniel Pipski. The story follows divorced couple David and Georgia Cotton, who reluctantly come together to disrupt their daughter Lily’s upcoming Bali wedding. Lily, fresh out of college, goes on a vacation with her friend Wren and ends up stranded with local seaweed farmer Gede after a snorkeling excursion gone wrong. Despite their initial animosity towards each other, Lily and Gede hit it off and eventually get engaged. She then surprises her parents with the news that she’s giving up her legal career to permanently stay in Bali with her new husband.
David and Georgia join forces to caution Lily against rushing into her relationship and repeating their past mistake. Little do they know, their fate is intertwined with Paul, Georgia’s boyfriend who happens to be the pilot on their flight to Bali. To everyone’s surprise, Paul arranges to visit Georgia in Bali a few days later. After giving their verbal approval of Lily and Gede’s union, David and Georgia hatch a secret “Trojan horse” plan to disrupt the wedding. This includes stealing the couple’s rings, which they quickly replace without anyone noticing. Although Gede suspects David and Georgia’s involvement, he keeps his suspicions hidden from Lily. As their scheme unfolds, David and Georgia unexpectedly begin to reconcile their differences.
