Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made (2020)
Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made (2020) is an American fantasy comedy film, based on the book series by Stephan Pastis and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. In a world where imaginary friends co-exist with humans, Timmy is an 11-year-old residing in Portland, Oregon with his single mother Patty. Operating Total Failure Inc as well as his own detective agency, Timmy ‘solves’ cases with his trusted partner Total (widely believed to be the result of his father’s absence). Together they roam the city, outsmarting what Timmy refers to as ‘the Russians’ (but are actually just bearded hipsters). His close-knit circle includes Charles ‘Rollo’ Tookus, Timmy’s former colleague at Total Failure Inc who left after a mission went wrong, and Molly Moskins, an optimistic girl with a crush on Timmy. Corrina Corrina is considered Timmy’s nemesis; although she is friendly towards him and seemingly unaware of his hostility towards her, it is hinted that Timmy may have suppressed feelings for her.
As Timmy goes to collect a deceased hamster from a fellow classmate, his Segway – also known as the Failure-Mobile – is stolen. This device, belonging to his mother, is taken right from under him. He immediately puts his other tasks on hold and enlists the help of Rollo, who suspects that the loss of their class pet and the stolen Segway may be connected to Russia. After consulting with Molly at the library, Timmy discovers that Corrina Corrina has Russian roots and starts to suspect her involvement in the theft, believing that she intends to dismantle his detective agency. Due to his erratic behavior in class, Timmy’s odd outbursts prompt him to seek guidance from Mr. Jenkins, the school counselor. Slowly but surely, he begins to confide in Mr. Jenkins about his mission. In addition, Timmy becomes aware that Patty is dating Crispin – a friendly yet detached meter maid whom he dislikes for refusing to collaborate with law enforcement agencies.
