Tin Man (2007)
Tin Man (2007), an American television miniseries, was a joint production between RHI Entertainment and the Sci Fi Channel. The three-part series premiered on the Sci Fi Channel in the United States. DG, a waitress from a small Kansas town, felt out of place in her farm life and was plagued by visions of a woman with lavender eyes warning her of an impending storm. These visions came true when Azkadellia, the tyrannical ruler of the O.Z. (Outer Zone), sent her Longcoat soldiers to kill DG. Fortunately, DG managed to escape through a ‘travel storm’ into the O.Z., where she met and became friends with Glitch, Wyatt Cain, and Raw – all residents of this strange realm. Glitch had said goodbye to half his brain thanks to Azkadellia’s handiwork; Wyatt Cain was once an enforcer known as ‘Tin Man’, but ended up trapped in iron armor for years after opposing Azkadellia; Raw possessed the ability to see things others could not and belonged to a race enslaved by Azkadellia.
As a child, DG’s life was nearly taken by her sister Azkadellia through dark magic. However, their mother used light magic to bring DG back to life and gave her secret instructions to find the Emerald of the Eclipse – a powerful object sought after by Azkadellia. The Longcoat soldiers and bat-winged ‘mobats’ that serve Azkadellia capture both DG and Raw. In the midst of the chaos, Cain discovers that his believed-to-be-deceased wife and son are actually alive. Unfortunately, Zero, the captain of the Longcoats, shoots Cain causing him to fall into an icy lake. Luckily, Glitch is able to save and revive Cain before they embark on a journey to rescue DG from Azkadellia’s castle. During questioning, Azkadellia learns that obtaining the Emerald will not be easy as it is protected by a force known as the ‘Gray Gale’. After receiving advice from the Mystic Man, who is later killed by Azkadellia, DG sets off towards the south with her childhood teacher and shapeshifter named Tutor (also known as Toto) helping her along the way.
