The American historical adventure film, Togo (2019), was directed by Ericson Core and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It follows the story of Leonhard Seppala and his beloved sled dog during the 1925 serum run to Nome. The film alternates between Seppala’s early days with Togo, when he is initially raised as a puppy, and the intense journey they undertake years later. In Nome, Alaska in 1913, Seppala and his wife Constance add a Siberian Husky puppy to their pack of sledding dogs. Though Seppala suggests retiring him due to his small size, Constance has unwavering faith in the young dog. However, he proves to be quite mischievous and constantly escapes from his kennel to join Seppala’s team on runs, causing disruptions to their training routine.

After two failed attempts to get rid of the Husky, the young dog breaks through a window and returns to the other dogs in their training. Seppala gives up and allows him to join them, where he surprises everyone by outrunning the others and showing natural leadership skills. Seppala realizes that this puppy has the potential to become a future champion and names him Togo, after Japanese admiral Tōgō Heihachirō. He trains Togo until he becomes skilled enough to win the All Alaska Sweepstakes, earning both of them local recognition. A few years later, an outbreak of diphtheria strikes Nome, mainly affecting children. In an effort to obtain serum from Nenana, Mayor George Maynard faces challenges due to severe weather conditions.
