Toy Story (1995)

Toy Story (1995) is a classic American animated comedy film from Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. The story follows a group of toys who come to life when no humans are present. They live with their owner, Andy Davis, his sister Molly, and their mother. The leader of the toys is Sheriff Woody, who sends Sarge and his army men to spy on Andy’s birthday party through a baby monitor. The toys are worried about being replaced by new toys that Andy may receive as gifts. Among the other toys are Mr. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, Rex the tyrannosaur, Hamm the piggy bank, and Bo Peep the porcelain doll. During Andy’s birthday celebration, he receives an impressive Buzz Lightyear action figure who truly believes he is a Space Ranger and has no idea that he is just a toy. His advanced features quickly make him Andy’s new favorite toy, causing Woody to feel envious.

Two days prior to the move, Andy’s family decides to have dinner at Pizza Planet. In order to secure a spot for himself in the outing, Woody resorts to using RC, his radio-controlled car, to try and push Buzz under the desk. However, due to a mishap, he accidentally sends Buzz flying out the bedroom window instead. The other toys mistakenly think Woody was trying to harm Buzz intentionally. While Andy takes Woody with him in the car, an enraged Buzz confronts them but ends up falling out of the vehicle along with Woody. Stranded in their current location, they end up hitchhiking on a Pizza Planet delivery truck to reach the restaurant. During this time, Buzz mistakenly believes a claw crane filled with Little Green Men is an actual rocket. Their sadistic neighbor Sid, known for destroying toys for his own amusement, captures them from the crane and brings them back to his home where they meet his Bull Terrier Scud as well as his “mutant” toys made from scavenged toy parts. It is here that Buzz watches a TV commercial that shatters his belief of being a real space ranger and experiences an emotional breakdown after attempting to fly and breaking his arm.
