Toy Story 2 (1999) is an animated feature created by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. In this sequel, Woody and Buzz Lightyear have become the co-leaders of Andy’s beloved collection of toys. However, during a playtime mishap, Woody’s arm gets damaged and he is accidentally left behind on a shelf. While exploring his new surroundings, Woody finds Wheezy, a penguin toy who has been sidelined due to a broken squeaker. Shortly after, Wheezy gets taken to a yard sale by Andy’s mom. Determined to save his friend, Woody jumps into action but ends up getting stolen by Al McWhiggin – the greedy owner of Al’s Toy Barn store. Fortunately, Buzz uncovers two valuable pieces of evidence – the car’s license plate and a feather from a chicken costume – that lead Andy’s toys to the realization that their dear friend has been kidnapped by Al. Upon arriving at Al’s apartment, Woody meets three new toys: Jessie the cowgirl, Bullseye the horse, and Stinky Pete – an unloved prospector figure inspired by Woody’s Roundup TV show from the ’50s.
In hopes of reuniting with Andy, Woody longs to go home, causing tension with Jessie who cannot join the toy museum unless Woody joins. Upon his repair, he learns that Jessie’s previous owner left her behind, leading him to fear that Andy may do the same. This leads Woody to consider going to Japan. Meanwhile, Buzz and the other toys reach Al’s Toy Barn to rescue Woody but encounter a new Buzz Lightyear toy with a similar sense of self-importance as Andy’s Buzz when they first met. The new Buzz believes they are on a mission to defeat Evil Emperor Zurg. As they try to escape, both Buzzes find themselves in Al’s apartment where they accidentally release a toy Zurg. At this point, all the toys are reunited at Al’s apartment where Woody has a change of heart and invites the Roundup gang to join them as part of Andy’s toys.
