Transformers (2007)

Transformers (2007), an American sci-fi action film based on Hasbro’s toy line, follows the epic story of two factions of sentient robots – the Autobots led by Optimus Prime and the Decepticons led by Megatron. A brutal civil war on their home planet Cybertron has left it devastated and in ruins, as both sides fight for control of the AllSpark – a powerful cube that holds the key to their existence. The Autobots seek to use it for healing and peace, while the Decepticons aim to use its power for destruction and domination. But fate brings them to Earth when Megatron crash-lands in the Arctic Circle, where he remains frozen until discovered by Captain Archibald Witwicky and his team in 1897. Unknowingly activating Megatron’s navigational system, Captain Witwicky’s glasses become imprinted with the coordinates to the AllSpark’s location.

Sector 7, a covert government group, uncovers the AllSpark in the Colorado River and conceals its energy signals by constructing the Hoover Dam. The frozen form of Megatron is then transported to this facility and studied for advancements in human technology. Presently, the Decepticons – Blackout, Scorponok, Frenzy, Barricade, Starscream, Bonecrusher, and Brawl – have arrived on Earth and taken on the appearance of Earth vehicles. Two of them, Blackout and Scorponok, launch an attack on a U.S. military base in Qatar with the goal of accessing the military’s network and locating Megatron and the AllSpark. However, their plan is foiled when the base staff cuts off their access to the network cables. While Blackout destroys the rest of the base, Scorponok pursues a small group who have evidence of the robots but is eventually driven back. During this confrontation, it becomes apparent that high-heat sabot rounds are the only effective weapons against the Transformers’ armor.
