Trauma (1993)

Trauma (1993), an Italian giallo horror film directed by Dario Argento, follows Georgia Jackson, a chiropractic nurse in Minneapolis. During a rainstorm, Georgia stays late at her practice to meet a new patient. However, she believes she may have seen the patient before. That same night, troubled Romanian immigrant Aura Petrescu escapes from a psychiatric hospital and is later found by police and returned to her parents’ home. The next evening, Aura’s mother Adriana – who poses as a psychic – holds a séance for locals desperate to uncover the identity of the ‘Head Hunter’, a notorious local serial killer. As Aura fled the house, Adriana and Stefan were hot on her heels as they all entered the woods.

The trio soon crossed paths with the killer. While staying at David’s lakeside home, Aura’s behavior raised concern when he found her bingeing and purging in his kitchen. Nearby, a young boy named Gabriel snuck into a neighbor’s house after his pet lizard escaped through an open window. Unbeknownst to him, the residence belonged to the killer and he stumbled upon a dangerous object. As David was editing news stories about the killer, he noticed a pattern of only striking during rainstorms. Meanwhile, Aura ventured into the city to visit a farmer’s market but caught the eye of her former psychologist, Dr. Judd, who relentlessly chased after her until she was forced back to his home with him.
