Tremors II: Aftershocks (1996) is the direct-to-video sequel to the popular comedy horror film, Tremors. Set years after the first film, it follows Val McKee and Earl Basset’s new lives. Val has married Rhonda LeBeck and Earl has invested his wealth into an ostrich ranch which is now struggling. One day, Carlos Ortega seeks Earl’s help with a dangerous problem – Graboids have been attacking workers at an oil field in Chiapas, Mexico. After some hesitation, Earl agrees to hunt down the creatures upon hearing that he will be paid $50,000 for each one he kills. He is also tempted by Ortega’s offer to double the payment if he captures a live Graboid. During their mission, Earl meets Kate Reilly, a geologist; her assistant Julio; and Pedro – a mechanic working with them to study these mysterious creatures.
Earl and Grady devise a plan to eliminate the Graboids using remote-controlled cars equipped with explosives. While their strategy proves effective, they soon find themselves overwhelmed by the sheer number of Graboids. In a desperate move, Earl reaches out to Burt Gummer for assistance. Burt arrives in his ‘deuce-and-a-half’ truck, armed to the teeth with firearms and explosives. The following day, Earl and Grady are taken aback when a Graboid unexpectedly appears. Their panicked attempt to flee results in them crashing their truck into an incline. Upon approaching the sick and defenseless creature, they realize that all of its tentacles have mysteriously died. They then remember Ortega’s offer of a $100,000 reward for capturing a live Graboid and decide to call Pedro for extraction along with the creature.
