Twilight (2008)

Catherine Hardwicke directed the American romantic fantasy film Twilight (2008), which was based on Stephenie Meyer’s 2005 novel and written by Melissa Rosenberg. Seventeen-year-old Bella Swan moves from Phoenix, Arizona to live with her father, Charlie, who is the police chief in Forks, Washington. Her mother Renée is remarried to a minor league baseball player named Phil. In Forks, Bella reunites with her childhood friend Jacob Black, who lives on the nearby Quileute Indian Reservation with his father Billy. At school, Bella is drawn to the enigmatic Cullen siblings and ends up sitting next to Edward in biology class. However, he seems uninterested in her. When Bella almost gets hit by a van in the school parking lot, Edward swiftly jumps between her and the vehicle using only his hand to stop it. He refuses to explain himself and warns her against getting close to him.

Jacob informs Bella of a deep-seated hostility existing between the Cullens and the Quileutes, resulting in the Cullens being barred from entering the reservation. Following a second miraculous rescue by Edward, Bella conducts her own investigation and concludes that he is indeed a vampire. He eventually confirms this, revealing that he was drawn to her irresistible scent during their biology class and assuring her that his family only feeds on animal blood. The two fall deeply in love, and Edward brings her into his vampire clan. Carlisle, the head of the family, works as a doctor at Forks hospital alongside his wife Esme. The other members of their unofficially adopted family include Alice, Jasper, Emmett, and Rosalie. However, not all of them are pleased with Bella’s presence as they fear their secret may be revealed.
