Twisters (2024)

Twisters (2024), an American disaster film directed by Lee Isaac Chung and written by Mark L. Smith based on a story by Joseph Kosinski, serves as a standalone sequel to the 1996 film of the same name. Kate Carter, who works in Oklahoma with her team of storm chasers Javi, Addy, Praveen, and her boyfriend Jeb, utilizes a Dorothy V doppler and barrels of sodium polyacrylate solution to decrease the intensity of tornadoes and secure funding for further research. Tragically, during one mission, Addy, Praveen, and Jeb lose their lives while Kate and Javi survive. Five years later, a now-employed Kate joins Javi’s business partner Scott at Storm Par for a one-week project testing a new tornado scanning system using phased-array radar. After receiving news of a destructive tornado in a nearby town from Javi, Kate agrees to join the team in Oklahoma.

The famed ‘Tornado Wrangler’ and YouTube sensation, Tyler Owens, has made his way to Oklahoma in anticipation of an expected outbreak of tornadoes. Accompanied by his skilled team of Boone, Dani, Dexter, and Lily, as well as English journalist Ben, Tyler sets out to chase the predicted storms. As they track an EF1 tornado that has swept through a wind farm nearby, Kate experiences a panic attack which prevents her from assisting Javi with setting up their final scanner. She instead makes the decision to drive away. The group then pursues another storm that produces yet another EF1 tornado and a powerful satellite that breaks off on its own. Noticing that the satellite is gaining strength, Storm Par heads after it but is met with danger as it reaches EF3 intensity and knocks out their third scanner.
