Uncharted (2022)
An American action-adventure film, Uncharted (2022), directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway, is based on the popular video game franchise. The story follows two brothers, Nathan and Sam Drake, who are caught attempting to steal a valuable map made after the Magellan expedition. While Sam escapes, Nathan is returned to their orphanage. However, before leaving, Sam gives him a ring that once belonged to their ancestor, Sir Francis Drake, and promises to come back for him. After fifteen years pass, Nathan now works as a bartender and occasionally pickpockets wealthy individuals. It is then that he meets Victor “Sully” Sullivan, an old associate of Sam’s who informs Nathan about his brother’s disappearance while they were trying to obtain Juan Sebastian Elcano’s diary. Despite receiving postcards from Sam over the years, Nathan decides to help Sully find his brother and they attend an auction with hopes of stealing a valuable golden cross connected to the Magellan crew.
In that location, the pair runs into Santiago Moncada, the final member of the Moncada family (who financially supported the original journey), and Jo Braddock, leader of a group of hired soldiers employed by Moncada. While Nathan is caught off guard by Braddock’s men, the resulting altercation serves as a distraction for Sully (disguised as an auction attendant) to swipe the cross. After making their way to Barcelona, where they believe the treasure is hidden, Nathan and Sully meet up with Sully’s contact Chloe Frazer, who has another cross. However, Chloe takes Nathan’s first cross without permission. Despite this betrayal, Nathan and Sully manage to convince her to team up with them. Meanwhile, Moncada discovers his father Armando plans to donate their family fortune; enraged by his father’s belief that he is not worthy of inheriting it, Moncada orders Braddock to kill him in retaliation.
