Point of No Return (1985) is a Polish crime comedy directed by Juliusz Machulski. Serving as a follow-up to its predecessor, Vabank (1981), the film brings back our familiar characters who find themselves tangled in a fierce rivalry between a former safecracker and a corrupt bank manager. After breaking out of prison with the help of an old accomplice, former banker Kramer seeks retribution against his enemy, Kwinto. In response to this threat, Kwinto enlists the help of his old gang. The story culminates in Kramer’s apparent victory as he boards a flight to Zurich, Switzerland – but first, they must cross the German border. By bribing Nazi guards and successfully boarding the plane, they believe they have made it to their destination only to discover that the film production team has tricked them with counterfeit sets and actors. To their dismay, they are met by police waiting for them upon arrival.
