Valentine’s Day (2010), a romantic comedy directed by Garry Marshall, features a screenplay and story written by Katherine Fugate, Abby Kohn, and Marc Silverstein. Florist Reed Bennett proposes to his girlfriend Morley Clarkson and she accepts, while his friends Alfonso Rodriguez and Julia Fitzpatrick are not surprised when Morley has a change of heart and leaves later that day. During her short leave from the U.S. Army, Kate Hazeltine meets Holden Wilson on her flight to Los Angeles and he admires her dedication to travel home for such a brief time. After landing, Kate needs transportation to get there on time and Holden offers his limousine. Meanwhile, Julia falls for cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Harrison Copeland without knowing he is married to Pamela. When he asks for discretion while ordering flowers at Reed’s shop before his business trip to San Francisco, she remains unaware of his marital status.
Julia surprises Harrison by booking a flight to see him on his trip, but her plans are thwarted by Reed at the gate. He informs her that Harrison is still married. Disheartened, Julia decides not to go to San Francisco and instead makes a visit to Harrison at the Los Angeles hospital. The hospital staff confirms that he is indeed married. Julia takes matters into her own hands and disguises herself as a waitress to cause a scene at the restaurant where Harrison is dining, which raises suspicion from his wife Pamela. In another turn of events, one of Julia’s students, Edison, orders flowers for her from Reed. But Julia suggests that instead of giving them to her, Edison should give them to Rani, a girl in their class who has a crush on him after she explains the meaning of love. However, their planned encounter does not go as expected when Grace’s mother finds a naked Alex in Grace’s room rehearsing a song he wrote for her.
