Voyage of Time (2016), an American experimental documentary written and directed by Terrence Malick, is an exploration of the origin and end of the known universe. The film was a culmination of over forty years of work for Malick and has been described by him as “one of my greatest dreams”. It was released in two versions: a forty-minute IMAX version narrated by Brad Pitt, and a feature-length edition (also known as Voyage of Time: Life’s Journey) narrated by Cate Blanchett. Additionally, the feature-length edition was chosen to compete for the Golden Lion at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival. On October 7, 2016, IMAX Corporation released the IMAX version of Voyage of Time. Critics responded positively to both versions.
