War Room (2015)
War Room (2015) is an American Christian drama film directed and co-written by Alex Kendrick. The story follows Tony and Elizabeth Jordan, a seemingly successful couple with material wealth and a daughter named Danielle. Despite their outward appearance, their marriage is strained due to Tony’s callous behavior, verbal abuse, and thoughts of infidelity. His demanding job also keeps him away from his family for extended periods of time. In an effort to sell a house for an elderly woman named Miss Clara, Elizabeth turns to her for advice on her struggling marriage. Miss Clara suggests using the power of prayer and shows Elizabeth her own ‘War Room’, a place solely dedicated to praying against the enemy. As Miss Clara puts it, “when facing the enemy, we must get on our knees and pray.
As Elizabeth fervently prays for her husband, Tony departs on a business trip. During the trip, he dines with a charming woman who extends an invitation to her apartment. However, moments before leaving with her, Tony suddenly becomes nauseous and rushes to the bathroom to vomit. Later on, he loses his job due to stealing drug samples. Little did Elizabeth and Danielle know that he had been selling these stolen samples illegally in order to make more money. After hitting rock bottom, Tony realizes the error of his ways and turns back to God. He understands that he must return both the stolen samples and his dishonest earnings, even if it means risking imprisonment by confessing his actions. In a meeting with his former boss, Tony admits what he has done and expresses remorse.
