What Happens in Vegas (2008)

What Happens in Vegas (2008) is a romantic comedy directed by Tom Vaughan and written by Dana Fox. In New York City, high-strung Joy Ellis McNally, a commodities trader, is unexpectedly dumped by her fiancé at the birthday party she threw for him. Meanwhile, easy-going Jack Fuller Jr., a carpenter, is fired by his father. Feeling lost and upset, Joy and Jack separately travel to Las Vegas with their friends – Joy with bartender Toni ‘Tipper’ and Jack with lawyer Jeff ‘Hater’. By chance, they end up sharing the same hotel room due to a computer glitch. After clearing up the misunderstanding and receiving upgrades and club coupons, they spend the night partying and drinking together before impulsively getting married. However, the next morning they both agree it was a mistake and plan to divorce.
After Jack receives a quarter from Joy and wins three million dollars in a slot machine, their marriage begins to fall apart. Despite Joy’s reminder that she is entitled to half the winnings, they decide to get divorced upon returning to New York. However, the judge in charge of their case has different plans. In order for them to finalize the divorce, they must attempt to reconcile by coexisting for six months while attending sessions with marriage counselor Dr. Twitchell once a week. If they are able to make it work but still want to go through with the divorce after six months, they can each keep half of the money. However, if either of them refuses to cooperate, the judge will hold onto the money until further notice. As their resentment towards each other grows deeper, Jack devises schemes such as canceling their counseling session and Joy plots to seduce him with other women at their apartment.
