Wild Bill (2011), a British crime comedy drama film directed by Dexter Fletcher, follows the story of a recently paroled man. After serving an eight year sentence for drug offenses, he returns home to East London to find his two sons, Dean and Jimmy. However, their mother has abandoned them and Dean has been taking care of both himself and his younger brother. Despite this, Dean makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with Bill. As Bill tries to adjust to life on the outside, he is offered a chance to return to illegal activities by his former associates Dickie and Terry. Knowing the consequences of getting caught again, Bill declines and instead plans to start anew in Scotland working on oil rigs. However, during a parole meeting, Bill learns that his sons are at risk of being surrendered to foster care due to their lack of a legal guardian. Although hesitant at first, Bill ultimately decides to step up as their father in order for them to stay together.

In an intense moment between father and son, Dean confronts him about his past actions and threatens to turn him in if he doesn’t change his ways. Despite the number of challenges ahead of him, such as restraining Jimmy’s delinquent behaviour, Bill is able to find legal work and bond with Jimmy. Jimmy has a tendency to abscond from school to be a drug mule for Pill. Glen’s brother Terry, threatens to undo Bill’s progress. After nearly being caught, Jimmy disposes of the drugs to avoid arrest, but this puts him in a bad position with Terry. Dean visits his love interest Steph where the two nearly have sex before her father unexpectedly comes home. Jimmy, who had followed Dean to Steph’s home, steals a large amount of cash from the kitchen to help pay off Terry. Terry demands Jimmy work off the remaining balance, threatening to burn down his flat if he does not.
