The American sports comedy-drama film Win Win (2011) was written and directed by Tom McCarthy. Mike Flaherty, a small-town attorney in New Providence, New Jersey, struggles to maintain his law practice while also coaching wrestling. He faces the challenge of keeping his financial problems hidden from his wife Jackie and their two young daughters, Abby and Stella. Mike sees an opportunity when he is assigned to represent Leo Poplar, a client with early dementia who has no known family. He convinces a judge to make him Leo’s guardian, resulting in a monthly stipend of $1,508. However, instead of taking care of Leo himself, Mike places him in a senior care facility while still receiving payment for being his guardian.

Leo’s teenage grandson, Kyle, arrived from Columbus, Ohio seeking a place to live. Mike and Jackie generously offered him a temporary home with them instead of staying at Leo’s old house. However, things took a dangerous turn as Kyle attempted to break into the abandoned property. Concerned for his well-being, Mike and Jackie confronted Kyle and learned about his difficult family situation: His mother is in rehab and he does not feel safe living with her and her boyfriend. Upon hearing this, Jackie decided that it was best for Kyle to stay with them permanently rather than returning home. After sitting in on one of their practices, they discovered that Kyle has a natural talent for wrestling.
