Witching & Bitching (2013) is a Spanish comedy horror film co-written and directed by Álex de la Iglesia. It follows the misadventures of two men, José and Antonio, as they rob a pawn shop in Madrid along with José’s son Sergio. The risky decision to involve the child puts everyone in danger, leading to a chaotic shootout and their hijacking of a taxi. In desperation, they flee towards Spain’s border with an unwilling passenger in the trunk and force the driver, Manuel, to take them there. However, they are not alone as Sergio’s mother Silvia and two persistent police investigators Pacheco and Calvo track them down. The journey leads them to Zugarramurdi, Navarre where they encounter a group of cannibalistic witches led by Graciana. Despite escaping once, their fate takes another dark turn as they are eventually captured by the witches.

After successfully locating the witches’ house, Silvia enlists the assistance of police officers to break in. Unfortunately, José, Antonio, and Manuel manage to escape amidst the chaos. However, Silvia and the two cops are captured by the witches and Silvia is transformed into a witch using tainted toad juice. The trio of men are also captured by the witches, except for José who is saved by Graciana’s daughter Eva. It turns out that Eva has developed strong feelings for José and insists that he flee with her immediately. Despite her pleas, José refuses to leave without his son. With the help of Eva’s brother Luismi, they eventually reach the ritual chamber where they encounter Eva who had been buried alive by her own mother as punishment for her betrayal.
