Zootopia (2016)
Zootopia (2016) is an animated buddy cop movie created by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Set in a world of anthropomorphic animals, the film follows Judy Hopps, a determined rabbit from Bunnyburrow who achieves her childhood dream of becoming the first rabbit police officer in urban Zootopia. Despite her eagerness and ambitions, Chief Bogo of the Zootopia Police Department assigns Judy to parking duty. However, on her very first day, she crosses paths with con artists Nick Wilde and Finnick. The next day, she jeopardizes her job by leaving her post to apprehend Duke Weaselton, a petty thief who stole a bag of rare crocus bulbs. Things take a turn when Mrs. Otterton arrives at Chief Bogo’s office seeking help to find her missing husband Emmitt, one of fourteen predators who have gone missing. In response to the plea, City Assistant Mayor Dawn Bellwether praises Judy for taking on the task. Although Bogo has no choice but to agree after much reluctance, he warns Judy that she must solve the case within forty-eight hours or resign from her dream job.
After realizing Nick was the last person to see Emmitt, Judy forces him to assist her by secretly recording his admission of tax evasion. They trace Emmitt’s things to a limousine belonging to notorious crime boss Mr. Big, a cold-hearted shrew who Nick has a past with. Mr. Big discloses that Emmitt unexpectedly turned ‘savage’ and violently attacked his chauffeur Manchas, a black jaguar. Upon questioning, Manchas explains that before attacking him, Emmitt ranted about ‘Night Howlers’. In a surprising turn of events, Manchas also turns savage and pursues them. Judy manages to capture Manchas and requests help from the ZPD, but Manchas disappears before their arrival. Chief Bogo demands Judy’s resignation, however Nick reminds him that it has only been thirty-eight hours since she was assigned the case.
