15 Minutes (2001) is an American crime film directed and written by John Herzfeld. Two former inmates, Emil Slovak and Oleg Razgul, come to the United States to claim their share of a bank robbery in Europe. While at their partner’s shabby apartment, they are denied their portion of the loot. In response, Emil fatally stabs both his partner and his wife, as Oleg captures it on video with a stolen camera. Daphne Handlova, a Czech immigrant who witnessed the murders, narrowly escapes before being caught by the killers. To conceal the evidence, Emil sets fire to the apartment. Jordy Warsaw, an arson investigator in New York City, is assigned to the case. Eddie Flemming, a well-known detective, also arrives at the scene with his girlfriend Nicolette Karas, a reporter from Top Story tabloid TV show.
Flemming and Warsaw team up to work on the case. While scanning the crowd, Warsaw notices Daphne trying to grab his attention, but she quickly disappears. Simultaneously, Emil contacts an escort agency and requests a ‘Czech gir’l. Oleg records as Emil murders the escort and reveals the location of the agency. With his camera in tow, Oleg declares himself to be the next Frank Capra. Flemming and Warsaw dive into their investigation of this homicide and pay a visit to the escort service. The madam, Rose Hearn, informs them that the girl described by Warsaw is not one of her employees but rather a hairdresser. She also mentions that she had just been asked about this same girl by some other men. Shortly after, Flemming and Warsaw reach the hair salon where Emil and Oleg had just warned Daphne to stay silent.
