Meanwhile, Paul is ready to resume his routine, but reluctantly gives in to his wife’s suggestion of artificial insemination as a final attempt at conceiving. As they consult with a doctor beforehand, Paul discovers that Mary had undergone an abortion during their separation. This news angers him and he decides to end the relationship. Fueled by curiosity, he investigates whose heart he now carries. A private detective informs him that it belonged to Cristina’s late husband, prompting Paul to stalk her around town.
