A View to a Kill (1985) is the fourteenth installment in the iconic James Bond film series. It marks the final appearance of Roger Moore as MI6 agent 007. While the title is based on Ian Fleming’s short story From a View to a Kill, the movie features an original screenplay. Bond’s latest mission takes him to Siberia, where he must locate a fallen agent and retrieve a valuable Soviet microchip. After analyzing the chip, Q reveals that it was created by Zorin Industries to withstand electromagnetic pulse attacks. To gather more information, Bond heads to Ascot Racecourse, owned by Max Zorin. With the help of Sir Godfrey Tibbett, a fellow MI6 agent and racehorse trainer, Bond uncovers evidence that Zorin’s horses are being drugged. Further investigation leads Bond to meet with French private detective Achille Aubergine, who informs him of Zorin’s upcoming horse sale.
During their meal at the Eiffel Tower, Aubergine falls victim to Zorin’s bodyguard May Day, who then flees. Bond and Tibbett make their way to Zorin’s estate for the horse auction. While there, Bond becomes perplexed by a woman who turns him away; he soon learns that she has received a check for $5 million from Zorin. That evening, Bond and Tibbett sneak into Zorin’s lab where they witness him installing devices in his horses that release adrenaline. Zorin recognizes Bond as a spy and orders May Day to eliminate Tibbett while also attempting to take out Bond himself. The KGB’s General Gogol confronts Zorin for his unauthorized assassination attempt on Bond, exposing that while he was originally trained and funded by the KGB, he has now gone rogue.
