Aquaman (2018)

Aquaman (2018), a superhero movie from Warner Bros. Pictures, is based on the DC character of the same name. In 1985 Maine, Thomas Curry, a lighthouse keeper, rescues Atlanna, queen of Atlantis, during a storm. They fall in love and have a son named Arthur who can communicate with sea creatures. However, when Atlantean soldiers arrive to take Atlanna back to her arranged marriage, she must leave her family for their safety. She promises to return when it’s safe and entrusts her advisor Nuidis Vulko to train Arthur. As Arthur becomes a skilled warrior, he learns that his mother was executed by King Orvax of Atlantis for loving a human and having an illegitimate child , causing him to reject his underwater heritage.

Currently, Arthur is widely recognized as the metahuman called ‘Aquaman’ by society. One year after defeating Steppenwolf, he comes face to face with a group of pirates who are taking over a Russian Akula-class submarine. The leader of the pirates, Jesse Kane, is killed in the altercation, prompting his son David to seek revenge against Arthur for refusing to aid in saving Jesse’s life and for his previous actions resulting in innocent lives lost. In the midst of this conflict, King Orm Marius (son of Orvax and now Atlantis’s new ruler) persuades King Nereus of Xebel to join forces in uniting Atlantis and destroying the surface world due to their harmful treatment of the oceans. If successful in bringing together all four kingdoms, Orm will earn the title of Ocean Master and command one of the most powerful forces on Earth. However, their plans are unexpectedly disrupted when a submarine attacks, causing Orm to feel compelled to unleash a tsunami.
