Captain Marvel (2019)

Captain Marvel (2019) is an American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Carol Danvers. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the 21st installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In 1995, Vers – a member of the Starforce team on the Kree Empire’s capital planet of Hala – suffers from amnesia and recurring nightmares involving an older woman. Under the guidance of her mentor Yon-Rogg, Vers learns to control her abilities while also being urged by the Supreme Intelligence – the ruling artificial intelligence of the Kree – to keep her emotions in check. During a mission to save an undercover operative among a group of enemy Skrulls, Vers is captured by their commander Talos. Through probing her memories, they discover Earth and during her escape attempt, Vers crash-lands in Los Angeles. The presence of this powerful alien garners attention from S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Nick Fury and Phil Coulson who are then interrupted by a surprise Skrull attack.

In this confrontation, Vers acquires a crystal containing her extracted memories while Fury eliminates a Skrull who had been impersonating his colleague Coulson. As Talos, disguised as Fury’s boss Keller, instructs Fury to team up with Vers and monitor her movements. Using the extracted memories, they head to a U.S. Air Force base where they uncover information about Vers’ presumed death in 1989 while testing an experimental light-speed engine created by Dr. Wendy Lawson. Vers recognizes Lawson as the woman from her nightmares. Fury contacts S.H.I.E.L.D. to report their location and a team promptly arrives. It dawns on Fury that Keller is actually Talos and he aids Vers in escaping in a jet alongside Lawson’s stowaway cat, Goose. They fly to Louisiana to meet Maria Rambeau, a former pilot who was the last person to see both Vers and Lawson alive.
