Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) is a sequel to the 2014 film, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the 15th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This American superhero film, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, follows the beloved intergalactic defenders who have gained popularity after saving the cosmos. However, their success is short-lived as they face new challenges following the Battle of Xandar. Their failure to protect the Anulax Batteries leads to an enemy in Ayesha, also known as the Golden High Priestess of The Sovereign. On top of it all, they encounter Ego and a familiar tough character from their past. With their lives in danger once again, can the Guardians save the world a second time?

Missouri, Planet Earth, 1980. Meredith Quill cruises in a car with her ‘spaceman’ boyfriend, jamming to some tunes on the radio. The duo parks behind a Dairy Queen and ventures into the nearby woods where her beau surprises Meredith with an alien seedling, promising its eventual takeover. As they share a kiss, 34 years pass. Fast forward to present day, and we see the Guardians of the Galaxy – Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Baby Groot – stationed on a platform while they obtain Anulax Batteries from their new employers, the Sovereigns. With weapons at the ready, they prepare for battle against an inter-dimensional threat called the Abilisk. The creature descends upon them and triggers their swift response; although Groot is too enthralled by ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ blasting from a speaker that Rocket had set up to join in just yet with his comrades’ efforts to defeat the Abilisk. Unfortunately for Groot’s enjoyment, Drax accidentally crashes down onto the speaker during the chaos.
