Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)

John Carpenter’s film, Assault on Precinct 13 (1976), is a thrilling American action movie set in South-Central Los Angeles. In the crime-ridden neighborhood of Anderson, a local gang called Street Thunder steals a stockpile of assault weapons and handguns. The LAPD takes action by ambushing the gang at 3:00 am on a Saturday, resulting in the deaths of six members. Seeking revenge, the gang’s four leaders make a blood oath against both the police and citizens of LA. Lieutenant Ethan Bishop, recently promoted to highway patrol, is tasked with taking over the closing Anderson police precinct for its final few hours. The small remaining staff includes Sergeant Chaney and secretaries Leigh and Julie. A prison bus led by Starker arrives at the precinct seeking medical assistance for one of their three prisoners en route to state penitentiary: convicted murderer Napoleon Wilson, alongside Wells and Caudell who is ill.
In another part of the city, the Street Thunder warlords are on a murderous rampage. A young girl, Kathy, and an ice cream truck driver are shot and killed by one of the warlords. In response, Kathy’s father, Lawson, takes down the warlord before being pursued into the Anderson precinct by other gang members. In a state of shock, Lawson is unable to communicate what has happened to him. As the prisoners are placed in cells by Starker, the telephone lines go down and the power shuts off in the station. Meanwhile, Starker prepares to move the prisoners back onto their bus when suddenly the gang attacks with silenced weapons. The swift attack results in Chaney, Caudell, Starker, and two officers being killed instantly. Bishop removes Wilson from Starker’s body and returns him and Wells to their cells.
