Carriers (2009) is a post-apocalyptic American film written and directed by the Pastor brothers. The world has been devastated by an extremely contagious virus, known as “The World Ender Virus”, causing widespread deaths. In order to seek refuge, Brian, his girlfriend Bobby, his brother Danny, and Danny’s friend Kate plan to make their way to Turtle Beach, Texas – a place they used to visit in their childhood. To increase their chances of survival, they adhere to a set of rules devised by Brian. On their journey, they encounter Frank and his infected daughter Jodie who are stranded with an empty gas tank. Despite escaping from Frank’s violent attack, the group’s vehicle breaks down and they reluctantly have to rely on Frank’s car. At Frank’s insistence, they head towards a local high school where it is rumoured that a cure for the deadly virus can be found.
However, upon reaching there with Frank, Brian, Danny and Kate learn that the supposed serum is ineffective and the only remaining doctor plans to euthanize himself along with a group of infected children. While on their journey, Bobby contracts the virus from Jodie, who keeps it concealed from the rest of the group. As a result, Frank ends up escorting Jodie to a nearby portable toilet. This gives Brian an opening to leave them behind and escape with their vehicle. As they make a pit stop at a hotel, little do they know that it is currently inhabited by armed survivalists. Upon their return, the survivalists demand that the women accompany them and eventually discover Bobby’s condition. They then command the group to leave immediately. In turn, Brian takes matters into his own hands and forces Bobby to depart from the group.
