Daredevil (2003), an American superhero film written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, is based on the Marvel Comics character created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett. As a child, Matt Murdock loses his sight due to exposure to radioactive waste. His father, former boxer Jack ‘The Devil’ Murdock, is involved with local mob boss Eddie Fallon and feels guilty for his son’s accident. Matt’s remaining senses are heightened as a result of the incident, granting him superhuman abilities such as agility and enhanced hearing. Witnessing his son’s potential, Jack renounces his criminal ways and focuses on resurrecting his boxing career. However, Fallon reveals that he manipulated Jack’s comeback by bribing his opponents to let him win. When Jack refuses to throw his next match for money, Fallon has him killed instead.

As an adult, Matt has a day job as an attorney in Hell’s Kitchen, alongside his friend Foggy Nelson. His legal services are free of charge, and he takes on cases where he believes the clients are truly innocent. But at night, he transforms into Daredevil, fighting crime as a vigilante. A journalist named Ben Urich documents Daredevil’s actions in the New York Post and gains attention for his coverage of ‘The Kingpin’ – a mysterious figure who is rumored to run all of the city’s criminal activities. However, what Urich doesn’t know is that the Kingpin is actually Wilson Fisk, a vicious mobster masquerading as a legitimate businessman. Meanwhile, Matt develops feelings for Elektra Natchios, a skilled martial artist of Greek descent. He’s oblivious to the fact that she is the daughter of Nikolas Natchios – Fisk’s right-hand man.
