However, due to her inability to let go of her rage and fear towards her mother’s killer, she is expelled from the training compound. She then uses her skills to become a contract killer. Many years later, Elektra’s agent McCabe receives a large offer for an anonymous client who wants to hire Elektra for an assassination plot on an island. The only condition: she must first spend a few days at the rented home on the island before learning the targets’ identities.
While waiting, Elektra catches Abby trying to steal her mother’s necklace. After sending her away, she befriends her father, Mark Miller. Abby then invites Elektra to join them for dinner on behalf of Mark. Despite developing feelings for Mark, Elektra discovers he and his daughter are the targets of her hit job. Choosing to spare them, Elektra leaves but ultimately returns in order to protect them from The Hand – a notorious crime syndicate of ninja mercenaries. Upon learning of the failed attempt, Roshi, the master of The Hand, allows his son Kirigi to lead a new team in pursuit of Elektra and abducting Abby – known as ‘The Treasure’. Despite attempting to leave them in Stick’s care, he scolds and urges Elektra to take responsibility for their safety. She then flees with Mark and Abby to McCabe’s country house but is pursued by Kirigi and his team of assassins – Typhoid, Stone, Kinkou, and Tattoo.
