Based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name, Justice League (2017) is an American film. It opens with footage taken by two kids using their camera phone, capturing Clark Kent/Superman after one of his heroic missions. In an interview, one of the kids asks Superman about his favorite thing on Earth, but before he can answer, the footage abruptly ends. Fast forward several months later in Gotham City where a robbery has just taken place. Perched on a gargoyle, Bruce Wayne/Batman confronts the perpetrator and engages him in a fight. Using fear as his ally, Batman dangles the man over the edge of a building and lures out a strange winged creature. After trapping it in a net, the monster explodes and leaves behind three burnt boxes on the wall. Witnessing this through a monitor, Alfred tells Batman it’s time to assemble their team.
Superman’s death from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice occurred several months ago, and the world is still in mourning. Martha Kent has since relocated from her rural Smallville home, while Lois Lane feels increasingly isolated. Meanwhile, in London, a group of thieves launch an elaborate bank heist and hold the customers hostage. Taking matters into her own hands, Diana Prince/Wonder Woman leaps down from a statue of Themis and halts the robbery. The leader of the thieves intends to destroy modern technology and bring the city back to a primitive state with a bomb, but Wonder Woman courageously throws it into the sky where it explodes harmlessly. The leader then turns his gun on the hostages, but Wonder Woman expertly deflects all the bullets with her gauntlets before finally defeating him by clashing them together.
