Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole (2010)
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole (2010) is a 2010 3D computer-animated fantasy adventure film directed by Zack Snyder. Soren, a young barn owl, resides in Tyto Forest with his family, where he enjoys listening to his father’s tales of the ‘Guardians of Ga’Hoole’ – noble owls who battled against the malevolent Pure Ones. However, Soren’s older brother Kludd grows envious when they are taught how to fly and pushes him off a branch, causing them both to plummet to the ground. They are then taken captive by Jatt and Jutt, minions of the Pure Ones, and transported to St. Aegolius Academy for Orphaned Owls. At this institution ruled by Queen Nyra, Soren and another owl named Gylfie are given the choice to either become soldiers or pickers (owls who search for ‘flecks’, pieces of magnetic metal used for creating a powerful weapon). While Kludd chooses to be a soldier, Soren and Gylfie must endure ‘moon-blinking’, a method of brainwashing. But they refuse to succumb to it.
Grimble, a boreal owl, teaches Soren and Gylfie how to fly and instructs them to locate the Great Tree of Ga’Hoole. However, Nyra discovers their plans and tragically kills Grimble. Despite this setback, Soren and Gylfie manage to escape and eventually meet two additional owls named Digger and Twilight. Inside their hollow, Soren is overjoyed to reunite with Mrs. P, a western blind snake who used to care for his family’s nest. She willingly joins the group as they set out to find the Guardians. Their journey takes them across Hoolemere’s sea and leads them to the legendary shrine of the Guardians. Here, they encounter an oracular echidna who assists them in locating the Island of Ga’Hoole. However, during their flight, they encounter a vicious snowstorm that causes Digger’s wings to freeze and sends him plummeting into the sea. Thankfully, two owls named Boron and Barran (the king and queen of the Guardians) swoop in and rescue him from certain doom. The pair then guides Soren and his companions towards the Great Tree of Ga’Hoole where he bravely reveals crucial
