She’s Out (1995) is a British primetime television crime drama that premiered in 1995 on ITV. The series, consisting of six parts, was produced by Cinema Verity for Carlton Television and written by acclaimed writer Lynda La Plante as a follow-up to her previous series Widows. Set ten years later, She’s Out continues the story of Dolly Rawlins, with Ann Mitchell reprising her role as the central character and Kate Williams joining the cast as Audrey Withey. Executive producer Verity Lambert and director Ian Toynton, both of whom had worked on the original series, were also involved in this production.
Dolly Rawlins was finally free from prison, having completed her five-year sentence for the death of her husband Harry. She wasted no time in joining forces with a group of other parolees to orchestrate a daring train robbery to be executed on horseback. Among Dolly’s accomplices were ex-convicts Ester Freeman, a brothel owner, Julia Lawson, a doctor who funded her heroin addiction by selling prescriptions, Gloria Radford, an arms dealer and black marketeer, Connie Stephens, a prostitute, Angela Dunn, an associate of Ester’s illegal activities, and Kathleen O’Reilly, a skilled forger.
