Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (2003)
Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas (2003) is an American animated adventure film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by DreamWorks Pictures. The story follows Sinbad and his pirate crew as they attempt to steal the enchanted ‘Book of Peace’ and hold it for ransom in what they believe will be their final mission before retiring to Fiji. However, Sinbad’s plans are interrupted when he realizes that the book is being guarded by Prince Proteus of Syracuse, his childhood best friend. Despite Proteus’ pleas for mercy based on their past friendship, Sinbad still tries to take the book but is thwarted by the arrival of Cetus, a large sea monster. In a moment of camaraderie, Sinbad and Proteus fight off Cetus together before tragedy strikes and Sinbad is dragged overboard. As Proteus rushes to save him, he is prevented from doing so by his own crew.
Cetus pulls Sinbad underwater, but he is rescued by Eris, the beautiful Goddess of Discord. In exchange for the Book of Peace, she offers to grant him any wish. Sinbad and his crew head to Syracuse to steal the Book, but when Sinbad sees Proteus with Lady Marina, he abruptly abandons the mission without explanation. As expected, Eris takes advantage of this and masquerades as Sinbad to take the Book for herself. As punishment, Sinbad is sentenced to death. However, Proteus intervenes and sends Sinbad to retrieve the Book instead, using himself as a hostage. Marina also joins in to ensure Sinbad’s success. To hinder their progress, Eris summons a group of sirens with their hypnotic singing voices that entrance all of the men on board except for Marina, who skillfully navigates them out of danger and earns the admiration of the crew. But as tensions rise between Marina and Sinbad, Eris notices their discord and sends in a roc to further disrupt their journey.
