TAn animated supernatural black comedy film, The Addams Family 2 (2021), is a sequel to the 2019 film based on the characters by Charles Addams. At a science fair, Wednesday Addams plans to present her experiment using her pet squid Socrates’ DNA on Uncle Fester to demonstrate how humans can be enhanced (though it also has the side effect of slowly changing Fester). However, she becomes disappointed upon seeing her family’s arrival. Despite this, her work catches the attention of scientist Cyrus Strange. Meanwhile at home, Gomez worries that his children are growing distant from him and Morticia. In an effort to bring them closer together, he suggests a family vacation. Before they embark on a road trip across the United States with Fester, Thing, and Lurch, Gomez and Morticia are approached by Mr. Mustela, a lawyer who claims that Wednesday may not actually be an Addams as he believes she was switched at birth. However, the couple ignores his accusations and continues on their trip. As they travel, they are pursued by Mustela and his henchman Pongo.
Initially, the family plans to head to Salem, Massachusetts, but Fester takes a detour to Niagara Falls. While on the road, they also make a stop at Sleepy Hollow, New York. During their journey, Gomez and Morticia mention Mustela’s accusations about Wednesday, prompting Fester to share a story about when he visited her on the day she was born. He recalls juggling babies in the delivery room which heightens Gomez and Morticia’s concerns that Wednesday may have been switched at birth. Unbeknownst to them, Wednesday overhears their fears.
