The Librarian: Return to King Solomon’s Mines (2006) is an American made-for-television fantasy-adventure film and the second installment in The Librarian franchise. Flynn Carsen has already embarked on numerous perilous missions during his first year as Librarian. While attempting to retrieve a Crystal Skull, he becomes distracted by another discovery and almost fails. His mentor, Judson, cautions him that sacrificing one’s desires for the greater good is what separates a good librarian from a great one. As Flynn celebrates his 32nd birthday, an unexpected visitor, ‘Uncle’ Jerry, arrives and gifts him with childhood drawings and his late father’s amulet. Soon after, Flynn’s apartment is ransacked and he is attacked while in possession of a mysterious scroll containing clues to King Solomon’s Mines.
Judson reveals that within the mines lies the Key of Solomon, a powerful book that grants control over time and space – a secret that must remain protected. While exploring the Roman ruins of Morocco, Flynn happens upon Emily Davenport, a highly educated archaeologist. Despite their constant arguments, Flynn and Emily are suddenly forced to work together after discovering a piece of the map legend. Surprisingly, their attacker becomes an unlikely ally when Flynn’s amulet reveals he is a member of the Cryptic Masons. He leads them to the location of the remaining pieces. Recognizing the markings as Akon— a cipher rather than a language—Emily insists on accompanying Flynn to Kenya. However, their pursuit is complicated by General Samir, who is also seeking the mines.
