The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice (2008)

The Librarian series continues with The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice (2008), an American fantasy-adventure film. As Librarian Flynn Carsen competes for a valuable Ming vase at an auction in England, he receives a call from both Charlene, his boss, and his frustrated girlfriend Katie. Trying to juggle everything at once, Flynn gets caught up in the moment and bids £1 million, causing him to lose Katie’s trust. Despite breaking the vase upon winning it, he discovers the Philosopher’s Stone inside, which turns anything into gold. While defending it from danger, Flynn also races to reunite with Katie after she flies back home. In Carpathia, a group of ex-KGB agents led by Sergei Kubichek plans to resurrect Prince Vlad Dracula and revive the Soviet Union with the help of the ‘Judas Chalice’. They kidnap Professor Lazlo, an expert historian on vampires who has been searching for the chalice for years.

Though reluctant to join their cause, they force him to direct them to New Orleans. Charlene scolds Flynn in the Library for overspending and losing Katie. It’s the final straw as he has a complete meltdown. Judson, Charlene, and Excalibur (his trusted sword) all suggest Flynn take a vacation. Charlene worries if he’ll return, but Judson assures her that the Library has plans for him. Later on, she stops by his apartment after her combination of speed-dating and wine-tasting to give him some travel brochures and words of encouragement: ‘Follow your dreams’. That night, Flynn’s peculiar dreams lead him to New Orleans where he meets André, a guide. At a converted church-turned-nightclub, he finally comes face to face with Simone Renoir, the woman from his dreams. She holds the key to finding the first marker for the Chalice.
