The spy film The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) is the ninth installment in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions. Starring Roger Moore as the iconic MI6 agent, it loosely adapts Ian Fleming’s posthumously published novel of the same name. In this thrilling tale, an American gangster named Rodney seeks out renowned hitman Francisco Scaramanga with a bounty on his head. However, his attempted assassination takes a turn when he is led into a funhouse section of Scaramanga’s estate and falls victim to the hitman’s golden gun. Meanwhile, in London, MI6 receives a golden bullet marked with ‘007’ believed to be sent by Scaramanga. Due to his elusive nature and distinctive third nipple, M excuses Bond from his current mission involving solar energy scientist Gibson in order for him to focus on finding Scaramanga.
With a clue from Moneypenny, Bond sets off on an unofficial pursuit of Scaramanga beginning in Beirut where he retrieves a spent bullet from a belly dancer. He then tracks down the gun maker in Macau and uses force to uncover the source of the bullets. Bond tails the shipment being taken to Hong Kong by Andrea Anders, Scaramanga’s lover. In her room at the Peninsula Hotel, he coerces her into divulging details about Scaramanga’s appearance and plans. She then directs him to the Bottoms Up Club, where Scaramanga takes a shot at Gibson as he exits the club. Scaramanga’s diminutive sidekick Nick Nack snatches a small device called the Solex Agitator off of Gibson’s person. Bond is armed outside of the club and gets apprehended by Hong Kong police lieutenant Hip.
