The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2020)

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2020) is a hilarious adventure film based on the popular animated TV series, SpongeBob SquarePants. In Bikini Bottom, Plankton devises a new scheme to steal the coveted Krabby Patty formula. Meanwhile, Karen argues that SpongeBob is to blame for his past failures, not Mr. Krabs. Across the sea in Atlantic City, King Poseidon’s selfish nature leads him to use all of his snail’s slime in order to maintain his appearance. His solution? To decree the acquisition of a new snail. Seizing this opportunity, Plankton kidnaps SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary to prevent any interference with his plans. When SpongeBob discovers Gary’s disappearance and teams up with his friend Patrick in search of his lost pet, they are offered a ride by Otto – an intelligent robot created by Sandy. Little do they know, this is all part of Plankton’s insidious plan to get rid of them for good. With SpongeBob’s absence from cooking Krabby Patties at the Krusty Krab, customers become unruly and trash the restaurant despite Mr. Krabs and Squidward’s efforts to stop them

Otto takes SpongeBob and Patrick to an old Western town, where they meet a tumbleweed spirit named Sage. Sage informs them that they are in a dream and must complete a special mission in order to continue their journey. He hands them a ‘Challenge Coin’ to boost their courage in facing the ghostly zombie pirates who haunt the tavern. As they explore, SpongeBob and Patrick learn that the pirates’ souls are ensnared by the malevolent spirit, ‘El Diablo’, and decide to aid in freeing them. However, in an attempt to escape from Diablo’s grasp, they accidentally destroy him. With the release of the pirates’ souls, Otto wakes up SpongeBob and Patrick.
