The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004)

The American live-action/animated adventure comedy film, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004), is based on the popular animated television series of the same name. In Bikini Bottom, our beloved protagonist SpongeBob SquarePants eagerly anticipates his promotion to manager at the new Krusty Krab 2, located next to the original restaurant. However, much to his disappointment, his co-worker Squidward Tentacles is given the title instead. Mr. Krabs explains that Squidward is more mature and better suited for the role, leaving SpongeBob feeling upset and discouraged. Meanwhile, Plankton’s numerous failed attempts to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula and conquer the world lead him to Karen, his computer wife who reminds him of ‘Plan Z’. In an effort to frame Mr. Krabs for a crime he did not commit, Plankton steals King Neptune’s crown and sets it off to Shell City, planting false evidence along the way. That night, SpongeBob seeks comfort in his favorite restaurant Goofy Goober’s where he drowns his sorrows in ice cream with his best friend Patrick Star. The next morning he wakes up with a painful hangover.

King Neptune visits the Krusty Krab 2 to confront Krabs about his stolen crown. As SpongeBob, still feeling the effects of a hangover, also arrives and insults Krabs, he assures Neptune that he will retrieve the crown from Shell City. Neptune freezes Krabs and demands SpongeBob’s return within six days to spare his boss’ life. Mindy, Neptune’s daughter, cautions SpongeBob and Patrick about the dangers of Shell City, specifically ‘the Cyclops’ who preys on innocent sea creatures. Undeterred, SpongeBob and Patrick embark on their journey in the Patty Wagon – a car shaped like a Krabby Patty hidden beneath the restaurant. Meanwhile in Bikini Bottom, Plankton successfully steals the Krabby Patty formula from the frozen Krabs and uses it to sell his own version of the famous burger. Upon learning that SpongeBob and Patrick are attempting to retrieve Neptune’s crown, Plankton reveals that he has hired a hitman named Dennis to eliminate them. However, Squidward uncovers Plankton’s treachery and confronts him.
