The Suicide Squad (2021)

The Suicide Squad (2021), an American superhero film based on the DC Comics team of the same name, is produced by DC Films in collaboration with Atlas Entertainment and the Safran Company. Distributed by Warner Bros., it follows intelligence officer Amanda Waller as she sends two Task Force X teams to Corto Maltese after its government is overthrown by an anti-American regime. The squads, made up mostly of Belle Reve penitentiary inmates who have been promised reduced sentences, are given the mission to destroy “Project Starfish,” a secretive experiment being held at Jötunheim, a Nazi-era laboratory. While Colonel Rick Flag’s team is ambushed by the Corto Maltese military and suffers heavy losses, Bloodsport’s team (consisting of Peacemaker, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, and Ratcatcher 2) manages to enter the country undetected during the chaos. After locating Flag with the help of rebel leader Sol Soria at a base camp for rebel soldiers, they convince her to join forces with them.

The squad successfully captures their next objective: the Thinker, a metahuman scientist who heads Project Starfish. They are accompanied by first team survivor Harley Quinn, who escaped from the Corto Maltese government upon learning of their plans to use Project Starfish against other nations. While some members of the squad set up explosives around Jötunheim, Flag and Ratcatcher 2 make their way into the underground laboratory with the Thinker. There, they discover that Project Starfish is actually Starro the Conqueror, an enormous alien that controls its victims through smaller versions of itself. The Thinker reveals that it was brought to Earth by the American government, who have been secretly funding experiments on Corto Maltese for years.
